Half poster

This is our half poster under ten minutes. On an ipad we used pic collage. We also had to arrange pictures and add text. It was fun. Tomorrow we each have to teach another person how to use this app and add to the blog.

In Term One we headed to the Adventure Southland Ropes Course. There were many activities that were designed for us to work together as a team. Students were split into two groups and were given some materials with the aim of getting a marble from one place to a green bucket. As a class students were encouraged to co-operate, listen to each others ideas and work to find a way that would get the marble to the bucket. Unfortunately the rain didn't hold off but this didn't dampen students moods as they went on the flying fox and climbing wall.

Check out some photos from the day!

Kia ora koutou
What a weekend of interesting weather we had!
This week is going to be a busy one for us as we head into our P.A.T. testing. We have started our new topic-Wearable Arts. Keep those recyclables coming in. We are looking forward to creating some funky and interesting outfits. There is no maths or spelling homework this week because of the testing we are doing. :)

Cross country was postponed and will now be on Wednesday the 28th of May. Only ten years up (10 as at the end of 2014) will be attending the cross country.

Our very first blog entry!! :)

Welcome to our very first blog entry. We are very new to blogging and aim to update our blog on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This will also be a place to come for up to date information and notices. As well as all of this we will also be keeping you up to date with what is happening in Room 1.

We are following an expedition across the Atacama Desert in Chile. This expedition is being run through an organisation called i2P - Impossible to Possible. Six university students from around the world are involved in this including one student from Auckland University. They run approximately 1200 kilometres during their six day expedition and are involved a lot of different experiences. You can follow their blog by clicking on this link

We have been doing some fact finding on both the Atacama Desert and Chile. Some facts we found are:
Chile - The population of Chile is 17.8 million
      - Chile holds the record for the biggest earthquake, magnitude9.5

Atacama Desert - It hasn’t rained for over 400 years in some parts of the desert.
We are looking forward to having a video conference with the students who are participating in the expedition soon.
